Miklós Szabó graduated as physician in 1988 at Semmelweis University Budapest and since 1993 has a permanent appointment at the First Dept. of Paediatrics of Semmelweis University Budapest Hungary. He specialised paediatrics and later neonatology. Since 2007 he is the head of Neonatal Services and chief of Neonatal Intensive Care. He graduated for PhD in 2005 with the thesis on “Extracellular antioxidant defence mechanisms of neonatal adaptation”. Since 2017 lecturer of the Semmelweis University.
He initiated the first Hungarian web based health database on neonatal health and was pioneering the hypothermia treatment as neuroprotection in asphyxiated infants. Author of several peer reviewed publication on clinical research regarding hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy
Miklos Szabó is the President of the Hungarian Society of Perinatology (2015‐) and of the Board of Hungarian Neonatology ( 2016 – ) Member of the European Society for Developmental, Perinatal and Paediatric Pharmacology, Member of the“Topic Expert Group data collection and documentation” European Standards of Care for New‐born Health project of the European Foundation for the care of newborn infants (EFCNI) (2015 – He is an acknowledged physician and clinical researcher. His activity focuses to improve the quality of the care and to humanize the early neonatal period.
